Event Overview

University of Alberta Observatory

Speaker: Dr. Carsten Krauss

Talk Title: Dark Matter and Bubbles

Talk Description:

Dark matter is one of the biggest mysteries in physics. We dark matter is what moves stars and galaxies, what helped form galaxies and galaxy clusters in the first place, bar we don’t know what it is made of. Particle physicists are looking for direct signs of dark matter in laboratories around the world. This talk will motivate this search and introduce you to the PICO dark matter search experiment that is operating at SNOLAB 2000m below the surface. I will show some new results and give an outlook of the field.
