Dark Matter Planetarium Show: A Cosmic Puzzle

Dark Matter Planetarium Show: A Cosmic Puzzle

Event Overview

A Cosmic Puzzle: Cosmology, the study of the origin, evolution and structure of the universe is like a giant puzzle. There are a lot of pieces but you have no idea of what the picture looks like. Starting with the pieces you recognize, sun, planets, stars and galaxies you form a mental picture of the universe. Suddenly strange pieces are found (expansion of space, dark energy), they fit but to accommodate the pieces you are forced to change your mental picture. A new picture starts to take form until new strange pieces (curvature of space, dark matter) force you to change your picture once more. How many times more will it change? Will we ever get a complete picture? Join us as we try to piece this puzzle together.

SNOLAB is an underground science laboratory specializing in neutrino and dark matter physics located 2 km below the surface in the Vale Creighton Mine near Sudbury Ontario Canada.
